Tawar Mbentar (Pengobatan Tradisional Karo, Studi Kasus di Desa Nageri, Kecamatan Juhar, Kabupaten Karo)
Abstract
Traditional medicine is a treatment that comes from local knowledge which becomes the identity of a region. One of the traditional treatments of the Karo people is tawar mbentar. Where tawar mbentar is useful as a medicine that can nourish the skin, increase facial beauty and many other benefits, so it is interesting to discuss tawar mbentar for its development. This study aims to determine the ingredients, process and usage, benefits, constraints and handling of tawar mbentar in Nageri Village, Juhar District. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods and the techniques used in data collection are interviews, observation and documentation. This research describes tawar mbentar with the manufacturing process, benefits and also suggestions from the author for tawar mbentar. The results showed that the use of tawar mbentar is still widely used and believed by the local community in the manufacturing process using various kinds of ingredients, one of which is kaciwer, besides that it also uses mantras/ tabas. In the process of taking materials for making tawar mbentar, there are obstacles such as some materials that must be taken in the forest and if needed, purchased directly at the market. All ingredients are processed, molded and dried. Ready to use by eating directly or processed again with water or mixed with other ingredients
