dc.description.abstractRemineralization can reform the lost enamel crystals into larger size of hydroxyapatite crystals and more acid resistant. The remineralizing agent contains calcium and phosphate can form hydroxyapatite crystals so that tooth hardness increases. Barangan banana peels contains calcium and phosphate which can increase tooth hardness. The purpose of this study is to determine difference enamel surface hardness after application of 25% barangan banana peels extract paste for 2, 4 and 6 minutes once a day for 14 days. Samples were premolars that mounted to resin and smeared with 37% phosphoric acid for 15 seconds. Samples was divided into 4 groups (n = 6), control group and 2, 4, 6 minutes application group. Barangan banana peel extract by maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent, and made into paste of 25% extract. The mean value of hardness measured by vickers hardness tester with a load of 25 gf for 25 seconds in control group 146.950 ± 65.783 VHN, 2 minute group 232.723 ± 30.393 VHN, 4 minute group 239.583 ± 18.395 VHN, and 6 minute group 218.483 ± 46.545 VHN. One way Anova test with post hoc LSD showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between application group and control group. The 4 minute application group showed a higher hardness value compared to 2 and 6 minute groups. It was concluded that was a significant difference in enamel hardness after the application of 25% barangan banana peel extract paste.en_US
