    Abstract
Heat-cured acrylic resin is a polymethyl methacrylate-based material that is often used as a denture base material but has a low impact strength that is easily fractured. A method to increase the impact strength of heat-cured acrylic resin is the addition of fibers. Banana stem fiber is a natural fiber obtained from the core of the banana stem. This study aims to determine the difference in impact strength of heat-cured acrylic resin between the group without fiber addition and the group of banana barangan stem fiber addition with continuous unidirectional fiber orientation stained with 30% red dragon fruit extract. The type of research used was laboratory experimental with Posttest only control group design. The research sample was a plate-shaped heat-cured acrylic resin measuring 80 × 10 × 4 mm with a sample size of 16 pieces for each group, namely group I (without fiber addition) and group II (with addition of fiber). Banana stem fibers were colored by soaking in 30% red dragon fruit extract. Acrylic resin mixture with a ratio of 4.6 g powder : 2 ml liquid was stirred and inserted into 1/3 of the plate and 3 twisted fibers with continuous unidirectional fiber orientation were arranged afterwards, the remaining dough stage was inserted and pressed. The curing process was carried out in a waterbath from room temperature and raised to 74ºC for 2 hours, then raised to 100ºC for 1 hour and then polishing. Impact strength testing using Charpy Impact Tester and data analysis using Independent T-test. The mean and standard deviation of the impact strength values of groups I and II were 0.0096±0.0024 J/mm2 and 0.0104±0.0017 J/mm2. Independent t-test showed that there was no significant difference (p<0.05) with a value of p=0.287 in the impact strength of heat-cured acrylic resin between the control and treatment groups. From the results, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in impact strength between the group without fiber addition and the group with the addition of barangan banana stem fiber and there is an increase in the value of impact strength after the addition of banana stem fiber with continuous unidirectional fiber orientation colored with 30% red dragon fruit extract.
