| dc.description.abstract | Panoramic radiography produces images that show facial structure including mandible and maxilla and its supporting structures. The changes of radiographical density are one of the signs of reduced level of bone mineralization. This research aims to find out the differences in mandibular bone density reviewed from panoramic radiography between Bataknese patients with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus in Medan. The total of 30 samples in the form of primary data are collected using purposive sampling technique which are divided into two namely 15 radiographs of Bataknese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 15 radiographs of Bataknese patients without type 2 diabetes mellitus. Data obtained are processed through univariate and bivariate analysis. Since the data distributes normally, it is then analysed using independent T-test. The result indicates that the average value of mandibular bone density in the group of patients without type 2 diabetes mellitus is 155,708± 11,621 while in the group of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is 132,477±14,785. The result of statistic test with independent T-test, it is obtained that p<0,05, namely 0,000. The research concludes that there is a significant difference of bone density between Bataknese patients with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus in Medan. | en_US |
