    Abstract
Dentin remineralization is process restoring lost minerals and repair collagen and non-collagen proteins on dentin which damaged by demineralization process, by increases dentin surface hardness. Barangan banana peel contains the calcium and phosphate needed to remineralize teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference surface hardness of dentin after application of 1% Barangan banana peel powder paste for 1, 2, and 3 minutes once a day for 14 days in vitro. Samples were the first and second premolars of the upper and lower permanent teeth that had been removed with the crowns split in the buccolingual direction, implanted in decorative resin, and demineralized for 96 hours. Sample consisted of 4 groups (n = 6), namely control group and group that applied paste for 1, 2, and 3 minutes. Barangan banana peel powder paste 1% was obtained through the grinding process, 230-mesh sieving, ball milling at 800 rpm for 1 hour, and mixing with aquades, CMC-Na, nipagin, glycerin, and propylene glycol. Dentin surface hardness was measured after 14 days of paste applictaion using a vickers hardness tester with a load of 50 gf for 10 seconds. The mean of dentin surface hardness values of control group were 17.75 1.248 VHN, paste application group for 1 minute was 21.93 1.021 VHN, the 2 minute group was 30.30 4.290 VHN, and the 3 minute group was 39.48 2.278 VHN. One-way ANOVA with post hoc LSD showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between each group, with the highest hardness value in group that was applied with the paste for 3 minutes. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference in tooth dentin surface hardness after application of 1% Barangan banana peel powder paste for 1, 2, and 3 minutes once a day for 14 days in vitro.
