Natural dyes are dyes obtained from plants, animals or mineral sources.
Every plant has the potential to be used as a coloring agent. One of the plants that
can produce natural dyes is from noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia) is one of the
tropical plants that is quite widely found in various places. The part of the
holiness used in this study is the leaves of the hoof. This study was conducted to
determine the content of dyestuffs from noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia) using two
treatment factors, namely the concentration of dyes (1: 3 and 1: 5) and the
duration of soaking (12 hours and 24 hours) on the quality of staining in the
fabric media. The research method is carried out by preparing raw materials,
carrying out the extraction process, scourging process, mordanting process, the
process of immersion of fabrics in dyestuffs and the ecoprint process. The leaves
contain compounds such as alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, and terpenoids. The
resulting amendment of the 1:3 sample was 12.05% and the 1:5 sample was
7.05%. The highest dye retention value was obtained in the 1:3 sample with a 12-
hour immersion of 13.59%, and the lowest dye retention value was obtained in the
control sample of 6.24%. Testing the fading of ecoprint results is carried out by
washing and drying in direct sunlight.
