Abstract

Coastal areas are the main habitat for mangrove forests. This area has both beauty and conflict of interest, so that the ecosystem in the area faces various threats and problems caused by human damage, such as coastal reclamation work, bombing, poisoning of coral reefs, and housing construction. This research was conducted to see the differences in the treatment of mangrove nursery types of red mangroves on their growth and development based on the distance from the coastline to the northeast. The research was carried out from October to December 2020. Measurements were carried out as far as 40 meters from the shoreline to the northeast. Seedlings of R. apiculata were planted from a distance of 40 meters to 44 meters at a distance of 1 meter by 1 meter with each plot consisting of 6 plants with the treatment: p0 = 40 meters, p1 = 42 meters, p2 = 43 meters, p3 = 43 meters and p4 = 44 meters. The results obtained during 12 weeks of observation showed that the highest seedling height was at a distance of 41 meters, the highest diameter was at a distance of 41 meters and the highest number of leaves was at a distance of 40 meters. In conclusion, the most ideal planting distance is at p1 (41 meters distance).
