    Abstract
This study aims to determine the characteristics of sheep farmers, the amount of their income, and the feasibility of sheep farming. The research was conducted in Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency, from June to September 2022. The types of data used were primary data and secondary data. Following stratified sampling, the number of samples using the quota sampling method is n > 30 after dividing the three villages based on livestock population, namely the low population group (100 heads), the medium population group (800 heads), and the high population group (5000 heads). A minimum of 20 sheep is required. The data analysis method used is the descriptive method, with the observed parameters being breeder characteristics, income, and financial feasibility. Based on business scale, research data is presented in three strata. The results revealed that men dominated the characteristics of sheep farmers with 91%; the majority were aged 41–50 and 51–60 years with the same percentage of 41%; the majority had a high school education or equivalent with 71%; they had small-scale businesses; and the majority had 5–10 years of farming experience with 73.54%. Farmer income can meet production costs so that the income is positive or profitable and has an R/C value > 1. When net BC and gross BC are greater than one, the BEP value is greater than zero, the NPV value is greater than zero or positive, the IRR values with 24% interest rates are 19%, 18%, and 19% greater than the interest rates, and the PP values are 50 months, business feasibility is achieved. The business project's age makes it financially feasible.
