dc.description.abstract | Isolation and identification of the class of flavonoid compounds contained in the rind of the Simpur Air (Dillenia suffruticosa (Griff.) Martelli) fruit has been carried out by maceration extraction with methanol as a solvent. The concentrated methanol extract was extracted with ethyl acetate repeatedly so that it was negative to 5% FeCl3. The ethyl acetate extract was concentrated and redissolved with methanol then partitioned with n-hexane until the n-hexane layer was clear. The concentrated methanol extract was analyzed by thin layer chromatography and separated by column chromatography with silica gel 60 F254 stationary phase and chloroform : methanol as mobile phase (90:10; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40) v/v respectively. The compounds obtained from fractions 31-45 were purified by preparative thin layer chromatography to produce 7.6 mg of yellowish brown amorphous solids with a value of Rf 0.61 with chloroform as eluent: methanol (60: 40) v/v. Analysis of the compounds obtained was carried out by spectrophotometry UV-Vis, FTIR, and ˡH-NMR. The UV-Vis spectrum shows a wavelength (λmax) of 256 nm. The FT-IR spectrum showed the presence of OH stretching, C-H sp3 stretching, C=O stretching, C=C stretching, OH bending, C-O stretching, C-O-C stretching, C-H sp2 bending, respectively at wave number 3429.43 cm-1, 2922.16 cm-1, 1604.77 cm-1, 1462.04 cm-1, 1381.03 cm-1, 1112.93 cm-1, 1031.92 cm-1, 771.53 cm-1. The ¹H-NMR spectrum shows the presence of protons H-2, H-6', H-2', H-5', H-8, H-6, -OCH3. Based on data analysis and data interpretation, it is suspected that the isolated compound is a flavonoid compound of the isoflavone group | en_US |
