    Abstract
The mangrove ecosystem as one of the coastal and marine ecosystems has great potential for the welfare of the community in terms of economic, social, and environmental aspects. The condition of the mangrove forest in Lubuk Kertang Village is experiencing increasing damage. Expansion of oil palm plantations makes fishing villages vulnerable to flooding, reduces the ability of mangroves to store carbon for a better climate and increases sedimentation in the soil around the waters of mangrove forest areas. Ecologically, the conversion has caused a decline in the ecological function of the area. This study aims to determine the impact of changes in the mangrove ecosystem on mangrove environmental services in terms of mitigating climate change and preventing sedimentation using Landsat satellite imagery in the mangrove forest of Lubuk Kertang, Langkat. This research was conducted from December 2021 to August 2022. Changes in environmental services were analyzed with changes in land cover using the supervised method and followed by the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Land Surface Temperature (LST), Bare Soil Index (BSI), Total Suspended Solid (TSS) using Landsat images 5, 7, and 8. The analysis was carried out in 2002-2020. The results of the supervised analysis showed changes in mangrove forests where at first the forest condition was good, then it was damaged, then recovered. This is supported by the analysis of plant density/NDVI which increases, then decreases, then increases again. The impact of these changes on environmental services is felt directly by the surrounding community, even on climate change, one of which is caused by an increase in carbon emissions in the air
