The Sipinsur Geosite Tourism Area in Pearung Village, Paranginan Sub-district,
Humbang Hasundutan District is located on the hills of Lake Toba with an area of
around 4.23 hectares and is at an altitude of 1,213 meters above sea level. Pine
stands (Pinus merkusii) have high environmental service benefits, especially in
terms of carbon sequestration. This study aims to determine the value of the biomass
content and carbon absorption value of pine stands (Pinus merkusii) in the Sipinsur
Geosite Tourism Area. At the study site, there were stands of pine (Pinus merkusii)
which dominated the area with a total of 1,293 individuals. Data collection in this
study was carried out using the census method, where each pine stand (Pinus
merkusii) in the area was measured. The method of measuring standing biomass
was carried out using a non-destructive method. The method for calculating the
biomass content of pine stands (Pinus merkusii) uses selected allometric equations
based on trunk diameter at breast height. The results showed that based on the
allometric equation used, the total biomass content of pine stands (Pinus merkusii)
in the Sipinsur Geosite Tourism Area was 994.82 tons or 235.18 tons/ha and total
carbon absorption was 1,715.97 tons or 405.67 tons/ha.
