Kinerja Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Provinsi Sumatera Utara dalam Pelestarian Ekosistem Pesisir Laut

Abstract

The problem of pollution of coastal and marine areas is a problem that often occurs in almost all coastal areas of Indonesia. North Sumatra Province is one of the provinces that cannot escape from one of these problems. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods using interview, observation, and documentation techniques in collecting related data aiming to see the performance of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of North Sumatra Province in preserving coastal and marine ecosystems. Then the data that has been collected is analyzed using the performance criteria proposed by Mahsun, namely input, process, output, outcome, benefits, and impact. The results show that the performance of the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Province of Sumatra is still not optimal. There are several factors that influence the lack of optimum Marine and Fisheries Service of Lampung Province in managing and preserving coastal and marine areas, namely inadequate number of controllers in the field in coastal and marine areas, inadequate number of facilities and infrastructure, lack of careful planning and also inadequate involving coastal communities and related institutions. For this reason, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of Lampung Province must further improve its performance by adding controllers in the field, adding supporting infrastructure, and involving coastal communities and related institutions in managing and preserving coastal and marine areas.
