One effort that can be done to reduce the noise is to use material that is absorbing acoustic or muffle the sound so loud that occur can be reduced. The main objective of this study was to determine the basic characteristics of the transmission loss of acoustic material aluminum-magnesium alloy. The variable in this study is the change in the composition of the aluminum-magnesium alloy material with a composition of 98% alloy Al-Mg 2%, 96% Al-4% Mg and Al-Mg 94% 6% for the acoustic characteristics and then tested using the impedance tube. From the research that has been done can be concluded that the value of the high transmission loss found in alloy Al-98% Mg 2% at a frequency of 1500 Hz is 45.0191 dB. Value of the low-loss transmission contained in the alloy Al-Mg 94% 6% at a frequency of 125 Hz is 20.7008 dB. Frequency value of the best in the insulation material of Al-Mg alloys for each composition is at a frequency of 1500 Hz at a frequency which is obtained maximum value of transmission loss. Al-Mg alloy composition is best for sound proofing obtained on the composition of Al 98% Mg 2% with a value of 35.8714 dB STC. The greater the value of the STC, the better the material's ability to sound proofingen_US
