dc.description.abstractThe research of wind turbine has rapidly developed in recent years. Many factors influenced the performance of wind turbine. They are wind velocity, the tower height, rotor diameter, type of airfoils, number of blades, tip speed ratio and efficiency of equipment. Wind turbine modeling with all variations spends much cost while the result can’t be known definitely. The utilizing of CFD software as a tool to analyze wind turbine make it possible to get the good result . The goal of this experiment is to find the effect of variation at airfoil length and tip speed ratio to performance of wind turbine by simulating with CFD software. This model is two dimensions with 1,55 m diameter of wind turbine at rotating region while the outer boundary is 3 x 6 m. The rotating region’s area is connected with the outer boundary by utilizing mesh interface. NACA 4415 is used as the airfoil. Three blades are used for this model. The wind velocity is 5 m/s. The chord variation are 30 cm,45 cm, 60 cm and 75 cm. The variation of tip speed ratio are 0.5 , 1 , 1.5 , 2. The result of simulation showed that the highest coefficient of performance reached for 75 cm chord length at TSR 2 with 58,88% while the lowest coefficient of performance reached for 30 cm chord length at TSR 0,5.en_US
