One of the indicators used in conducting technical analysis on the stock trend is the use of Ichimoku Kinko Hyo method. Ichimoku Kinko Hyo consists of four components namely Tenkan Sen, Kijun Sen, Chikou Span, and Kumo where each of them can be used either independently, in pairs, or in a whole. The research aims to analyse the return level of the variation of Ichimoku Kinko Hyo components on LQ45 of Indonesia Stock Exchange, and determine the type of variation that gives the optimum share return leve! This qualitative research employs secondary data namely chart of issuers listed on LQ45 of Neo HOTS application from January 2020 until December 2021. The research samples are selected based on the criteria that the issuer has to stay on LQ45 from January 2020 to December 2021. Data are processed using back testing simulation based on the signals of sell and purchase generated by each of Ichimoku Kinko Hyo component. Then, the Return, Mean Absolute Deviation, dan total of issuers from each component that generates capital gain are calculated to identify type of variation that gives optimal return. The result indicates that the less optimum share return is generated from the use of all Ichimoku Kinko components, and the most optimum share return is generated from the use of Chikou Span component.
