One of the challenges encountered by an organization is a significant organizational change. In dealing such change, good emotional quotient is required by each employee to recognize emotions within themselves and to be able to control them. In addition to emotional quotient, employees also need for good remuneration as well as good work motivation to be able to improve their performance which in turn will improve the organizational performance. The objective of this research is to analyse effects of emotional quotient and remuneration on employee performance through work motivation at Politeknik Penerbangan Medan. The population of this research is made up of 139 employees of Politeknik Penerbangan Medan with a sample of 104 respondents taken by probability sampling technique. The data collection methods are questionnaire, participatory observation and documentation study. The data are analysed with descriptive statistical analysis and path analysis. The research results indicate that emotional quotient has positive and significant effects on employee performance, remuneration has positive and significant effects on employee performance, emotional intelligence has positive and significant effects on motivation, remuneration has positive and significant effects on motivation, and motivation has positive and significant effects on employee performance. Emotional intelligence indirectly has positive and significant effects on employee performance through motivation and remuneration indirectly also has positive and significant effects on employee performance through motivation at Politeknik Penerbangan Medan
