dc.description.abstract | The flavonoid compound had been isolated from the leave of biwa (Eriobotrya
japonica (Thunb.) Lindl.). Isolation was carried out by the method of maceration
extraction with methanol and the methanol extract was re-extracted with ethyl acetate
repeatedly until negative to FeCl3 5 %. Ethyl acetate extract was concentrated and
reconstitued with methanol then partitioned with n-hexane until the n-hexane layer
was clear. The methanol extract was separated by column chromatography with a
stationary phase of silica gel and a mobile phase chloroform – ethyl acetate (10:90;
20:80; 30:70; 40:60) v/v. Fractions 76-125 by preparative thin layer chromatography
and produced as many as 16 mg of isolated in the from of a yellowish-brown
amorphous solid with an Rf value of 0.54 with chloroform – ethyl acetate (30:70) v/v
as eluent. Based on the UV-Visible analysis, it showed a wavelength (λmax) of 317 nm
in the band I and 268 nm in band II. The FT-IR spectrum showed the presence of OH,
C-H Strecthing symmetrical and asymmetris, C=O , C=C aromatic, C-H bending, and
C-O groups. The proton Magnetic Resonance Spectrum (1H-NMR) showed the
presence of H-2; H-3; H-5; H-6; H-8; H-2'; H-5'; H-6’; OH and OCH3. Based on the
data isolated compound is a flavonoid compound of the flavanone group. | en_US |
