Fish cultivation needs to be done to meet the increasing market demand. The
increasing demand for freshwater fish in traditional markets has prompted the
Indonesian people to take the initiative to cultivate freshwater fish at home. People who
cultivate fish at home are usually novice fish farmers or part-time fish farmers.
Cultivators who do not only focus on the cultivation process often experience crop
failure. The success factors of the cultivation process are the length and weight of the
fish produced that meet the ready-to-harvest standards. To support the cultivation
process, an adequate amount of fish feed and maintained water quality play an
important role in the success of the harvest. Smartpond is an innovative product capable
of feeding fish automatically and controlling water quality with ELF waves. This 28-
day study aimed to implement an appropriate method to measure the ratio of length and
weight of tilapia in test ponds with Smartpond and test ponds without Smartpond. The
method used to compare data from the two ponds is the relative growth rate. Based on
the results of a comparative analysis of the two datasets, tilapia in ponds with
Smartpond had significantly better fish length and weight than ponds without
Smartpond. This shows that the relative growth rate method is the right one to use in
measuring the length and weight of fish in this study
