dc.description.abstractIsolation and identification of the class of flavonoid compound contained in the bark of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis (L) Kuntze) through stage by maceration extraction using methanol as a solvent. The concentrated methanol extract was re extracted using ethyl acetate repeatedly until 5% FeCl3 was negative. The ethyl acetate extract was concentrated and redissolved with methanol then partitioned with n-hexane until the n-hexane layer was clear. The methanol extract was separated by column chromatography with silica gel as the stationary phase and ethyl acetate chloroform as the mobile phase (90:10; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40) v/v. The compound obtained from fraction 234-275 was purified by preparative thin layer chromatography to produce a yellow amorphous solid of 8.3 mg with an Rf value of 0.5 with chloroform as the eluent: ethyl acetate (10:90) v/v.Analysis of the compound obtained was carried out by spectrophotometry UV-Vis, FTIR, and 'H-NMR. The UV Vis spectrum shows a wavelength (max) of 280 in band II. The FT-IR spectrum shows the presence of -OH stretching groups.C-H stretching sp3. C-O Stretch, C-C Stretching, C-H Bending, C-O Stretch successively at wave numbers 3446.79 cm; 2922.16 cm; 1610.56 cm; 1512.19 cm; 1381.03 cm; 1251.80 cm . The ¹H-NMR spectrum shows the presence of H-2 protons; H-5; H-6; H-8; H-2'; H-5'; H-6'. Based on data analysis and interpretation of data, the isolated compound is a flavonoid compound of the isoflavone group.en_US
