The purpose of this research is to observe whether the activity of butterfly hug
relaxation could be a coping stress strategy that affects the stress of Psychology
Faculty, Universitas Sumatera Utara students during the transition to face-to-face
learning. The participants of this study are active students from Psychology
Faculty. The sampling technique used was incidental sampling, so that 8 students
who met the research requirements were found. This research uses an
experimental method with One group pretest-posttest design. The treatment that
has been given to this study was butterfly hug relaxation and done for three days
in a row. The measuring instrument used to measure stress in this study is the
Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), which consists of 10 items. Data that have been
obtained previously were analyzed by using the Wilcoxon test. The results of this
research indicate that there is an effect of butterfly hug relaxation on reducing
stress levels with P=0.020 (P<0.05). The butterfly hug relaxation treatment which
has been given has a substantial and significant effect on reducing student stress
levels with an
value of 67.56%.
