This essay is a study of the political participation of the punk community in Medan city. This research is based on the phenomenon of the punk community, not all of them implement the ideology of anarchism and there are also individual punk communities who follow government rules. In terms of democracy, namely elections, individuals in the punk community in the city of Medan have political participation such as voting during elections, having ID cards, and having mandatory letters as citizens and other actions that refer to their submission to government rules. This thesis looks at how the political forms of political participation of the punk community in Medan City, and which types of political participation of the punk community in Medan city are. This research uses qualitative research methods with phenomenological approaches and data retrieval assistance through questionnaires. Data collection techniques are observations, interviews, documentation of punk communities in Medan City. Analysis uses descriptive methods, so that it can provide a systematic picture and be analyzed descriptively, thus providing an overview of the forms of political participation by punk communities in Medan city. Theoretical study of political participation by Gabriel Almond. The results of this study show that punk communities in the city of Medan have two forms of political participation, namely conventional political participation such as: forming/following political discussions. However, individuals of the Medan city punk community are more likely to participate in unconventional politics such as: making/signing petitions, gigs, demonstrations made collectively.
