Asuhan Keperawatan pada Klien Diabetes Melitus dengan Intervensi Pemanfaatan Daun Kelor di Kecamatan Medan Tuntungan

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a condition in which the level of blood sugar (glucose) levels exceed normal conditions, either because the body does not produce insulin in sufficient quantities, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to the insulin produced. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas, which allows the body's cells to absorb glucose and then use it as an energy source. Moringa is a plant that can tolerate various environmental conditions, so it is easy to grow even in extreme conditions such as very high temperatures, Moringa can only live in areas with light snow. The content in Moringa leaves that function to reduce blood glucose levels are nutrients in the form of, Beta-carotene contained in vitamin A, antioxidants to protect the body from free radical attacks and disease, vitamin C which helps normalize insulin hormones in people with DM, ascorbic acid helps the process. secretion of the hormone insulin in the blood in people with diabetes, as well as vitamin E, to prevent diabetes. After carrying out the intervention with Moringa leaf decoction on the client for 3 times which was carried out on Saturday (14 June 2022), Sunday (15 June 2022), and Monday (16 June 2022) in Medan Tuntungan District, the results showed that the client stated blood sugar levels started to decrease, feel no pain and feel better than before. The client was also satisfied with the intervention provided and thanked the female students for gaining new knowledge and being taught about the use of Moringa leaf decoction in patients with diabetes mellitus
