This thesis discusses the Analysis of Choreography and Music in the Satolop Creation
Tortor Performance by Jolo New Traditional Creation Dance in Siopatsosor Village,
Pangururan District, Samosir Regency'' Satolop creations Tortor is a tortor created by perri
sagala for performance needs by adapting the concept of dalihan natolu which is realized through
The 3 basic colors of the Toba Batak namely red, white, black then also use 3 main movement
patterns, namely movements that depict straight lines, triangles and circles. The results
of the analysis show that as a whole the movement tells of a process of deliberation that took
place in the life of the Toba Batak people starting from exchanging opinions, selecting opinions,
to making decisions. then the tortor accompaniment music is gondang batara guru, with the basic
tone f and the pentatonic scale with stacic, conjuct, disjunct tone areas. In this study,
performance theory was used to find out the form of presentation of satolop tortor, namely: Milton
Siger who explained that shows always have: (1) limited performance time, (2) beginning
and end, (3) organized activity events, (4) a group of performers, (5) a group of spectators, (6)
the venue and, (7) the opportunity to show it. Here the researcher uses the theory of choreography
using the theory of form, technique, and content by. besides that the researcher also conducted a
transcription analysis using the theory by William
P. Malm. The things that must be considered in describing a musical melody are:
(a) scale, (b) basic tone, (c) tone area, (d) number of notes, (e) number of intervals,
(f) cadence pattern, (g) melody formula, (h) contour. The method used for this study is a
qualitative descriptive method proposed by Kirk Miller. Qualitative Research is a particular
tradition within the social sciences that is fundamentally dependent on observing humans in their
own realm and relating to people in their language and terminology.
