dc.description.abstract | This research discusses pragmatics and semiotics from data in the form of a novel entitled "Funiculi Funicula" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. The purpose of this research is to find out what are the pragmatic and semiotic values. The data in this study are quotations that contain pragmatic and semiotic values. This novel tells the story of an old cafe that can take visitors to travel through time. This research uses pragmatics theory according to Siswanto and semiotic theory according to Saussure. In addition, this research uses descriptive research methods and library research methods by collecting and analyzing quotations that contain pragmatics and semiotics. The result of this research is that there are 5 pragmatic values, namely honesty and sincerity, courage and willingness to sacrifice, loyalty, never giving up, responsibility. Then found 12 semiotics such as sounds that indicate arrival, head nods that state true, bowing which means thank you, and so on. | en_US |
