dc.description.abstract | This study aims to describe how the process of Jhon Barinson Purba and Putra Jaya Damanik can become a parsarunei, what influences the melodic structure of Jhon Barinson Purba and Putra Jaya Damanik, the differences in sarunei playing styles of Jhon Barinson Purba and Putra Jaya Damanik, and what is the difference in the melodic structure of Jhon Barinson Purba's sarunei and Putra Jaya Damanik, which is presented in the Sayur Matua ceremony of the Simalungun community. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach with data collection techniques through literature studies, interviews, recording, and laboratory work. The theory used to study biographies is the Anthology of Biography of Biographical Authors, by musicologist and musician Alan P. Merriam. Bruno Nettl's theory is used to describe technique, sarunei playing style, and melodic structure, while Herskovitz's theory is used to describe cultural change. The results obtained indicate that there is a comparison in the presentation of the sarunei melody on gual haro haro by Jhon Barinson Purba from Sin Purba and Putra Jaya Damanik from Sin Raya. The melodic characteristics of sarunei gual haro haro from Sin Purba and Sin Raya are different due to the influence of the Karo and Toba cultural areas on Sin Purba, while Sin Raya is relatively protected from outside cultural influences. | en_US |
