Career planning is defined as a way to assist individuals in choosing a career field that is in accordance with their potential, so that they can be successful at work Parsons (1909). One form of factor that is thought to be able to help individuals in planning a career is self-regulated learning. Self-regulated learning is a process in which students activate and encourage cognition, behavior, and feelings in a systematic and oriented toward achieving learning goals (Zimmerman, 1990). This study aims to look at the relationship between career planning and self-regulated learning in students of the Faculty of Psychology, University of North Sumatra. The subjects in this study were 260 students using probability sampling technique with proportioned random sampling method. The data collection method used a psychological scale, namely the career planning scale which was compiled based on the aspects proposed by Parsons (1909) and the self regulated learning scale which was compiled based on the aspects of self regulated learning proposed by Zimmerman (1990). The data analysis used is the Pearson's Product Moment method. The results showed that there was a relationship between self-regulated learning and career planning of sig p = 0.000 and r = 0.737. This means that the higher the self-regulated learning, the better the career planning. Conversely, the lower the self-regulated learning the worse the career planning.en_US
