Remineralization is the process of redepositing calcium and phosphate ions against enamel crystals supported by neutral pH in the oral cavity. To carry out this process, remineralization agents are needed that contain inorganic minerals in the form of calcium and phosphate which are the same as minerals that form hydroxyapatite crystals so that they can increase tooth hardness. Banana peel contains calcium and phosphate which can increase tooth hardness. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a difference in tooth enamel surface hardness after application of 25% banana peel powder paste for 2, 4 and 6 minutes within 14 days. The sample is a premolar permanent tooth of 24 pieces grown in clear resin, the sample is grown in clear resin except the surface of buccal, lingual, and palatal enamel is not planted in clear resin. The sample was demineralized by applying 37% phosphoric acid for 15 seconds. The samples were divided into 4 groups (n = 6), namely the control group (without smearing), the group of applying 25% banana peel powder paste for 2, 4, and 6 minutes. The banana peel stuff is mashed using a blender and mortar and sifted with mesh 60 and then the banana peel powder is mixed with CMC-Na, propylenglycol, glycerin and aquades so that it becomes a paste. A 25% banana peel powder paste was applied to the sample according to the treatment. The sample is stored in aqueous until the next treatment. Measurement of tooth enamel surface hardness was carried out after 14 days of treatment using a vickers hardness tester. Data tests were performed with shapiro-wilk normality test, one way anova, and post-hoc LSD. The results of the mean value and standard deviation of tooth enamel surface hardness in the 2-minute group were 18,000±2,045 VHN, then the 4- minute group was 24,883±4,714 VHN, then the 6-minute group was 80,100±37,523 VHN, and the control group was 11,750±3,499 VHN. The One Way Anova test and LSD post-hoc test showed a significant difference after 25% application of banana peel powder paste for 2, 4, 6 minutes and the non-smearing group with p = 0.006 (p < 0.05) and there was an increase in hardness. The 6-minute paste smearing group had higher changes compared to the 2- and 4-minute groups. It was concluded that there was a significant difference in enamel hardness after applying 25% banana peel powder paste.en_US
