Perbandingan Bentuk Kondilus Mandibula pada Penderita dan bukan Penderita Diabetes Melitus Menggunakan Radiografi Panoramik di Medan

Abstract

Panoramic Radiography is radiography which produces single description of facial structure that covers maxilla, mandible, jaw curves, and the other supporting factors. The change in condilus can be caused by many factors; one of them is endocrine disorder which can influence the change of condylus morphology. The objective of this research is to find out the shape of condylus in DM and Non-DM patients, using panoramic radiography. The research used observational analytic approach with cross sectional design. The samples comprise 30 panoramic radiographies, consisting of 15 DM patients' radiographs and 15 non-DM patients' radiograph. The result show that the shape of the condyle of patients with diabetes mellitus can be found rounded, pointed, flat and crooked finger in shape. In non-sufferers, round, flat, and pointed condylus forms are found. The conclusion of the study is that the shape of the condyle with diabetes mellitus is 30% round, angled by 20.7%, pointed by 23.3%, flat by 16.7%, and crooked finger by 3.3%. In non-diabetes mellitus sufferers, a round condyle shape was found in 83.3%, flat-shaped 10%, pointed-shape 6.7%, angled-shaped 0%, and crooked finger-shaped 0%. Based on the chi square test that there are significant differences in DM and Non-DM patients' shapes of condylus.
