Denture stomatitis has a relatively high prevalence among denture wearers, with one of the contributing factors being the care and maintenance practices of the dentures by the wearers. This study aims to determine the relationship between denture care and the occurrence of denture stomatitis. This research is an analytic descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study were denture-wearing patients at USU Dental hospital and denture stomatitis case journals at the Department of Oral Medicine in 2019 with a total of 40 samples. Sample inclusion in this study were users of removable partial dentures and complete dentures, data on denture stomatitis case journals, sample exclusions in this study were denture users fitted at dental artisans and denture stomatitis case journals that did not have denture cleaning frequency data and denture treatment methods. Data collection is done offline with the help of questionnaire and GoogleForms. Data analysis was performed by Chi square test. The results of this study showed that denture stomatitis sufferers had a low denture cleaning frequency, there were 29.4% of the subjects cleaned their dentures twice a day (p = 0.000), as many as 25% of the subjects with denture stomatitis cleaned their dentures using the water, brush and toothpaste method ( p = 0.017), as many as 90% of subjects with denture stomatitis never removed their dentures at night before going to bed (p = 0.003), as many as 81.3% of subjects with denture stomatitis did not soak their dentures at night (p = 0.002), as many as 87.5% of patients with denture stomatitis did not receive instructions on how to care for their dentures (p = 0.026). The results of the Chi-square analysis showed p-value<0.05 for all treatment methods. In this study it can be concluded, that there is a relationship between denture care and the occurrence of denture stomatitis.en_US
