Remineralization dentine is required in demineralized dentine by restoring calcium and phosphate minerals through formation hydroxyapatite crystals. Barangan banana peels contains minerals calcium and phosphate which able bind to form hydroxyapatite layer and can increase tooth hardness. The purpose of this study is determine difference dentine surface hardness after application of 2% Barangan banana peel extract paste for 2,4 and 6 minutes once a day for 14 days. Samples were premolars which embedded in resin and immersed in demineralized solution namely mixture of 2,2 mM calcium chloride, 2,2 mM monopotassium phosphate and 50 mM lactic acid for 96 hours. Samples were divided into 4 groups, control group (without application) and application group for 2, 4 and 6 minutes. Barangan banana peels extraction by maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent, then made into a paste of 2% extract. Paste applied to dentin surface for 2, 4 and 6 minutes once a day for 14 days. Measurement of dentine surface hardness by Vickers Hardness Tester with load of 50 gf for 10 seconds. The mean and SD values of control group's dentine surface hardness 37,400 ± 7,318 VHN, 2 minutes 54,666 ± 1,458 VHN, 4 minutes 58,616 ± 5,255 VHN and 6 minutes 53,466 ± 1,629 VHN. One Way ANOVA with post hoc LSD test showed significant difference (p<0.05) between control group and application. The 4 minute application group showed a higher hardness value compared to 2 minute and 6 minute groups. It was concluded that was a significant difference in dentine surface hardness after application of 2% Barangan banana peel extract paste for 14 days.
