Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is disease of the oral cavity characterized by recurrent ulcers, round or oval in shape, and erythematous halo edge. The etiology of RAS is not yet known with certainty, but there are several predisposing factors for RAS, including psychological stress factors. Dental students often have a high prevalence of psychological stress due to complex and demanding learning methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between psychological stress and the occurrence of Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) in clinical clerkship students in USU FKG. The research design used an analytic survey with a case-control design involving 60 samples divided into 2 groups, namely the RAS group of 30 samples and the control group, namely samples that were not suffering from RAS of 30 samples. The sample selection method is a purposive sampling method. Measurement of psychological stress using the PSS and Modified DES questionnaires and then RAS with objective examination. Data collection is done offline. Processing and analysis of data with Chi-Square statistical tests. The results showed that women suffered more from RAS 96.7%, while men were 3.3%. There are 11.7% mild stress levels, 65.0% moderate stress levels, and 23.3% severe stress levels. The majority of student stressors are factors of responsibility for patients 46.7%. The results of the Chi-Square analysis showed significant results (p = 0.015). The conclusion of this study shows that there is a relationship between psychological stress and the occurrence of Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS) in USU FKG clinical clerkship students.
