The jengkol peel is considered as organic waste that is commonly found scattered in traditional markets and has no economic value. Jengkol peel (Pithecellobium lobatum Benth.) contains some active compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, anthraquinone glycosides, tannins, saponins, and phenolic acids. The above compounds have antibacterial properties. The mechanism of inhibition of microorganism growth by alkaloid, polyphenol, saponin, and flavonoid compounds is generally done by destroying the components of the peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell, so that the cell wall is not formed intact. The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of jengkol skin extract against Streptococcus viridans bacteria. This is an experimental laboratory study with a post-test only control group design Jengkol skin extract was divided into five concentrations, namely 5%, 10%, 20%, 40%, and 80% with a positive control of Chlorhexidine digluconate 0.2% and a negative control of DMSO. The method used is the disk diffusion (Kirby Bauer) method using MHA media and was repeated four times. Data will be analyzed using SPSS software. Data normality was tested using the Shapiro-Wilk test and continued with the homogeneity test with the Levene test. The test continued with the one way ANOVA test and the LSD (Least Significance Different) Post Hoc test. In this study, a significant difference between the control group and the treatment group was seen. The results showed that there was an increase in the inhibition zone diameter as the concentration of the extract increased.en_US
