Heat cured acrylic resin is a material that commonly used as denture base, but this material has low mechanical strength so it fracture easily. This can be overcome by increasing the transverse strength by adding pineapple leaf fibers nanocellulose as reinforcing material. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was an effect of adding nanocellulose pineapple leaf fibers at concentrations of 1%, 1.3% and 1.5% on heat cured acrylic resin denture base on transverse strength. The design of this study is experimental laboratory. This study was conducted on heat cured acrylic resin denture base without the addition of nanocellulose pineapple leaf fibers and with the addition of nanocellulose pineapple leaf fibers at concentrations of 1%, 1.3% and 1.5% with size of samples is 65×10×2.5 mm and total 24 samples. Samples are tested with Universal Testing Machine to determine the transverse strength value and analyzed by univariant test to determine the average value and standard deviation, one-way Anova test to determine the effect of adding pinapple leaf fibers nanocellulose concentrations of 1%, 1.3% and 1.5% on heat cured acrylic resin denture base on transverse strength, and LSD (Least Significant Difference) test to determine the differences in the effect of the addition of pineapple leaf fibers nanocellulose on transverse strength. The one-way ANOVA test results showed there is an effect of adding nanocellulose fiber of pineapple leaves at concentrations of 1%, 1.3% and 1.5% on heat cured acrylic resin denture base on transverse strength with value of p = 0.001 (p <0.05). In the results of the LSD test, there was a significant difference in the effect between the control group and with the addition of 1%, 1.3% and 1.5% pineapple leaf fibers nanocellulose on the transverse strength with value of p = 0.001 (p <0.05). In this study it can be concluded that there is an effect of adding pineapple leaf fibers nanocellulose to the transverse strength on heat cured acrylic denture base resin.en_US
