Uji Toksisitas Ekstrak Propolis Geniotrigona thoracica dan Uji Stabilitas Fisik Chip Propolis Sebagai Kandidat Pembuatan Chip Periodontal untuk Perawatan Penyakit Periodontal

Abstract

Periodontal chip can be used as a supporting therapy for periodontal disease and have been proven to be able to eliminate periodontal pockets but there are several drawbacks that cause their manufacture to be directed towards natural ingredients, one of which is Geniotrigona thoracica propolis extract. This extract requires toxicity testing as a screening and physical stability test for propolis chip to see the stability of the product. The purpose of this research is to determine the toxicity of Geniotrigona thoracica propolis extract and the physical stability of propolis chip. This type of research is experimental that used 6 test groups samples with 240 Artemia salina leach larvae for the brine shrimp lethality test and 3 propolis chips for the cycling test. The result showed that Geniotrigona thoracica propolis extract had a Lethal Concentration 50 (LC50) value of 60.26 ppm, while the propolis chip did not change before, during, and after the test. The conclusion of this research is Geniotrigona thoracica propolis extract is toxic and Geniotrigona thoracica propolis chips have good physical stability
