    Abstract
Patricia Srisere Ikaria Situmorang (197039002) with the title of thesis “Analysis of Import Demand for mangosteen in China Market”. This research was supervised by Mrs. Sri Fajar Ayu, SP., MM., DBA as the head of the supervisory commission and Mrs. Dr. Lindawati, SP., M.Si as a member of the supervisory commision. This research study focus on the demand for mangosteen import in Chinese market involved three supplying countries, such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. China is one of the largest importers of mangosteen in the international market. Thailand is a produce country and one of the largest mangosteen supply countries in the Chinese market (market leader). This study aims to analyze the demand system model and the percentage market share of the mangosteen fruit; analyze the factors that affect the market share of imported mangosteen fruit in the Chinese market; and analyze the competitive relationship of mangosteen from Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia based on the elasicity of demand in the Chinese market. This study used an econometric approach with the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) model and used SAS application. The independent variabels used on this study were the price of mangosteen fruit imported from Indonesia. The results of the analysis show that the percentage of market share for Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia is 26% each; 68%; and 6%. This research also shows that increasing market share can be seen from cross elasticity. The cross elasticity value between the price of Indonesian mangosteen fruit with Thai mangosteen fruit and Malaysian mangosteen fruit in the Chinese market is positive, this value indicates a substitute or competitive relationship. When Thailand or Malaysia are in a disadvantageous position (their import share is decreasing), there is an opportunity for Indonesia to enter the Chinese market to increase the share of mangosteen imports.
