This research aims to determine the effect of betel leaf extract levels and
protein feed on performance (feed consumption, body weight gain and feed
conversion) and carcass (slaughter weight, carcass weight and carcass
percentage) of local ducks. This research was carried out in the Experimental
House Faculty of Animal Husbandry HKBP Nommensen University lasted for 3
(three) months from December 2021 to February 2022.
Local duck that used in this research were 135 (males). The experimental
design used a completely randomized design with a factorial pattern consisting of
2 factors, namely factor A is the levels of betel leaf extract consisting of A1 (10
ml), A2 (20 ml), A3 (30 ml). factor B is the level of protein feed consisting of B1
(13%), B2 (15%), B3 (17%). With each treatment repeated 3 times. The data
obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If there is a
significant different at the 0.05% level it will continued with Duncan’s test.
The result showed that giving betel leaf extract had a significant effect
(P<0.05) on feed convertion and slaughter weight. But did not showed a
significant effect on feed consumption, body weight gain, carcass weight and
carcass percentage. The conclusion of this research is provision of betel leaf
extract and protein feed levels are showed by A2 (20 ml) dan B3 (17%). While
increased the betel leaf extract level in this research (30 ml) showed a decreased
in body weight gain, slaughter weight, carcass weight and high ration convertion.
