dc.description.abstract | Has done research on the impact of hot rolling and deformation rate on the
mechanical properties of medium carbon steel for the blade palm harvesters. The
research objective was to observe the effect of hot rolling and the degree of
deformation of the mechanical properties of the material, determine the effect of
particle size on the mechanical properties and see if the medium carbon steel that
has been processed by hot rolling treatment have better mechanical properties than
the raw materials used. Improvement of mechanical properties of AISI 1060 steel
for the blade material made with palm harvesters hot rolling method.
Termomekanikal study performed at a temperature (7500C, 8000C, 8500C,
9000C and 9500C) and the degree of deformation (5%, 10%, 15% and 20%)
respectively. The test results showed that the optimal hardness value obtained is
420 BHN at 8000C temperature and deformation of 20%. Test results obtained
tensile stress limit 1019 MPa and 651.31 MPa yield stress. While the results of
microstructural memeperlihatkan average grain diameter of 4.95 μm. From the
research it can be concluded that the effect of heat treatment and rolling
deformation rate on the mechanical properties of the obtained relationship
between hardness and tensile strength which is proportional increases the hardness
value will also increase the power of attraction. Correlation of grain size on the
mechanical properties of the obtained relationship between hardness and grain
size is inversely proportional, where the smaller the grain size of the material
hardness will increase, while the relationship between tensile strength and
inversely proportional to the grain size is also where the smaller the grain size of
the material will be more tenacious. The mechanical properties of carbon steel
was after hot rolling process showed an increase compared to the mechanical
properties of materials | en_US |
