dc.description.abstractThis study explains about parenting style which includes the process of looking after, caring for, guiding and educating foster children. The learning process in this research is the process of learning culture through socialization, internalization and enculturation. This research was conducted at the Menara Kasih orphanage, a social organization. This study uses a qualitative and descriptive approach, in collecting data used direct observation of how to raise children and how to interact both in the environment and outside the environment. Interviews were also conducted with caregivers, coaches, secretaries, and foster children. The results of this study indicate that the parenting style of children in this orphanage is guarding, caring, guiding and educating and the learning process is the process of socialization, internalization and enculturation. The children who live in the Menara Kasih orphanage have quite good interactions with foster mothers, fellow foster children and all the orphanage caretakers. In the socialization process, foster children are divided into two, namely socialization in the orphanage environment and outside the orphanage environment. In socialization within the orphanage, the influential agents are foster mothers and fellow foster children, and for outside the orphanage, the influential agents are schools and playmates at school. In the process of internalization, foster children are trained to have a personality of discipline, responsibility, empathy, achievement and independence. In the process of enculturation all foster children must learn to adjust their thoughts and attitudes. Parenting at the Menara Kasih orphanage is a way of preparing foster children to become members of society. The cultural learning process which includes socialization, internalization, enculturation that occurs during parenting aims to shape personality and social behaviors in children, and personality and social behavior that is formed in children is influenced by the values and norms that apply.en_US
