Occupational Safety and Health is one of the basic needs of every workforce in Indonesia. However, in reality it has not become a priority for every company to provide protection for its workers. Because there are still many problems that occur, namely the lack of supervision carried out which causes no data on the number of work accidents that occur in the work environment. In this case, the government needs to improve the performance of labor inspectors, aiming to maintain the welfare of workers while maintaining the continuity of all parties concerned. This study aims to describe the performance of UPT Labor Inspector Region I of North Sumatra Province in Supervision of Occupational Safety and Health Norms. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Based on interview instruments with informants, namely the Head of UTP Labor Inspector Region I, Head of Administrative Subdivision, Head of Law Enforcement Section, Head of Occupational Health and Safety Section, Labor and Workers Inspector. The data in this study were obtained from observations, interviews, notes in the form of documents related to Occupational Safety and Health. The data was collected and then discussed based on Mahsun's theory which contained 5 (five) indicators, namely: input, process, output, outcome, and benefit indicators. The results of the research on the Performance of the Technical Implementation Unit for the Labor Inspectorate in Region I of the Manpower Office of North Sumatra Province in Supervision of Occupational Safety and Health Norms show a lack of quality and quantity of available human resources, with the number of supervisors only numbering 12 people and the number of companies located in Region I of North Sumatra Province more than 8,000 companies so that optimal supervision by labor inspectors has not been implemented, this is supported by the minimal amount of supervision and the available budget for carrying out supervision. So that the supervision carried out by the UPT has not been carried out thoroughly and has not run optimally, resulting in a lack of understanding of the workforce about the importance of K3 in the work environment, low awareness of K3 norms resulting in work accidents.Keyword: Performance, Occuptional Safety, and Healt Monitoringen_US
