Selar Bentong fish (Selar crumenopthalmus) is a small pelagic fish which
is one of main catch of fishermen and landed at TPI Pantai Labu Deli Serdang
Sumatera Utara . This study aims to determine the growth and reproductive biology
of the selar bentong fish landed at TPI Pantai Labu. The research was carried out in
September ˗ November 2022. The number of samples of selar bentong fish during
the study was 127 individuals with a total length between 145 ˗ 270 mm and total
weight between 53,18 ˗ 245,1 grams. The growth pattern of the selar bentong is
negative allometric, from the condition factor it is classified as less flat, namely
0,763 – 6,635. The growth parameter values of the von bertalanffy equation for
male selar bentong (L∞ dan K) are 234 mm and 2,01 mm/year, while the female
selar bentong (L∞ dan K) are 243 mm and 1,51 mm/year. Reproduction results show
that the sex ratio is in a balanced state, namely 1:0,649. The maturity level of gonads
for selar bentong fish at TKG I – TKG IV stages, egg fecundity ranges from
1.851 – 51.148 eggs and based on the diameter of the selar bentong eggs it is
classified as a partial spawner.
