dc.description.abstract | The University of North Sumatra Hospital in providing health services plays a direct
role in producing solid medical waste of approximately 150 kg/day and within a month
it can reach 1.5-2 tons. The management of solid medical B3 waste has not been carried
out properly, so it is necessary to evaluate the criteria for the stages of solid medical B3
waste management. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the storage of solid medical
B3 waste in the Temporary Storage of B3 Waste (TPS LB3) by comparing it based on
the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 56 of 2015 and to seek to
optimize performance in the management of solid medical B3 waste at the University of
North Sumatra Hospital. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive
research type. This method will explain the object of research, namely the sources and
characteristics and stages of solid medical B3 waste management using observation
guidelines, interview questionnaires and documentation. The data processing method
used is data reduction, data comparison and data determination which will then be
evaluated in depth. The results of the study showed that the management of solid
medical B3 waste specifically for the storage of B3 waste at TPS LB3 has not been
carried out according to the criteria in Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation
Number 56 of 2015 because TPS LB3 is in dirty and unkempt condition and there are
animals or insects, dirty water faucets. damaged and the packaging or container is not
equipped with a B3 waste symbol and label. The storage of B3 waste is also carried out
for more than 2 days and no chemical disinfection is carried out on the B3 waste.
Efforts to optimize the performance of solid medical B3 waste management are needed,
namely providing symbols and labels on containers or packaging of B3 waste, carrying
out chemical disinfection of B3 waste stored in TPS LB3, cleaning TPS LB3 every day
and establishing special routes for transporting B3 waste. | en_US |
