This research describes the realization of social  protection in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic and how Universal Basic Income (UBI) as a new offer to social aid can accelerate weakness  of the policy. The  policy of social protection in Indonesia is currently considered 
inadequate so the Universal Basic Income as the  most   sophisticated   development, in   
terms of social   welfare distribution,   has been taken into  account. The  Universal Basic  income is considered   to be effective  innovation to  accelerate the resident capacity in improving the social  mobility,  reducing  inequalities, and  providing  security.  
By providing  basic  income  security,  it  will not only provide  financial security to every resident in fulfilling their living needs,but also give access and opportunity to develop their  
capacity both soft  skills and hard  skills. With such offer,UBI requires the involvement of 
many disciplinary. Therefore, this public policy study is important to stimulate further research from other branches of discipline.This trajectory will test  and implement the  Universal  Basic  Income more  precisely which will be realized  in the future. This research employs literature  study and qualitative data analysis technique. In addition, this research is 
complemented by displaying and describing the realization of social protection policy in Indonesia during   the pandemic and   how the Universal   Basic Income   corrects and accelarectes is weakness
