    Abstract
Maximal mouth opening size is the greatest distance between the incisal edge of the maxillary central incisor to the incisal edge of the mandibular central incisor when the mouth is opened as wide as possible without pain. Mouth opening is a clinical parameter that we often encounter in daily practice. Maximal mouth opening is used as the first clinical marker of pathological changes or traumatic conditions in the masticatory system. This study aims to determine the relationship between height and weight on maximal mouth opening size in Batak children aged 6-12 years. This type of research is descriptive analytic with cross sectional design. The sample selection technique for this study used a purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out by measuring and filling out examination sheets for 60 children consisting of 30 boys and 30 girls. This study included measuring height using a measuring tape (GEA®), body weight using a scale (SMIC GEA ZT-120®) and maximal mouth opening size using a Range Of Motion Scale (Therabite Scale®). Research variables were tested with parametric statistics One Way ANOVA. The results of this study obtained a significant difference between the maximal mouth opening size and height (p = 0.000). The One Way ANOVA analysis test also found that there was a significant difference between maximal mouth opening size and body weight (p = 0.000). The maximal mouth opening size in Batak children aged 6-12 years at Anastasia Elementary School is 43.12 ± 4.57mm. The average maximal mouth opening increased in each height category with the largest peak in the largest height category, namely height 151-157 cm of 48.33 ± 4.32 mm, the average maximal mouth opening also increased in each weight category the body with the largest peak was found in the largest weight category, namely body weight 53-58 kg of 49.00 ± 6.55 mm. This study found that there was a significant difference in the mean maximal mouth opening size with height and weight because a p value ≤ 0.05 was obtained so that it can be stated that there is a relationship between height and weight on the maximal mouth opening size.
