    Abstract
Tooth extraction is a minor surgical procedure in the field of dentistry with the intention of removing the tooth from its socket and causing injury to the soft and hard tissue of the alveolar process which will cause a socket wound. In the process of healing post-extraction socket wounds, many factors cause problems in the process so that it can prolong the healing process. accelerate bone formation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of carbonate apatite with the addition of chitosan nanoparticles on the number of osteoblasts in socket wound healing after tooth extraction in Wistar rats. This type of research was a pure experimental posttest only control group design with 30 Wistar rats and divided into 6 groups. 3 groups were given treatment in the form of administration of carbonate apatite to the tooth extraction socket wound and 3 groups were given treatment of carbonate apatite-chitosan nanoparticles on the first day of tooth extraction and decapitation on days 7, 14 and 21. Then the specimens were processed with Hematoxylin Eosin (HE) staining to observe the number of fibroblasts on day 7, day 14 and day 21. The results of the One Way ANOVA test showed that there was a significant difference in the average number of osteoblast cells between the control group, the apatite carbonate treatment group, and the chitosan-carbonate apatite nanoparticle group on the 7th day with a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05), in the 14 days with a value of p=0.028 (p <0.05) and in the 21 day group with a value of p=0.027 (p <0.05). Giving apatite carbonate-chitosan nanoparticles can increase the average number of osteoblast cells in socket wound healing after tooth extraction in Wistar rats
