Edge detection is one of the most important things in image processing. Canny edge
detection operator is one of the most excellent edge detection. There are four basic
stages in that canny edge detection filtering, determine the value of the gradient,
pressure gradient value and connect each edge of the image. To increase the yield of
canny edge detection on the image used bilateral filtering method and bowstring based.
Bilateral filtering can replace the value of x in the pixel image with value -
average equal and adjacent to the pixel, while the bowstring-based has one advantage
that it does not contain optimal search so lower processing complexity. Bilateral
filtering is used to reduce noise and bowstring-based used for the calculation of the
dual-threshold canny edge detection. The image used in this study is an image with
the file extension * .bmp. in this study testing is done with an image resolution of
differents. The results of the three tests that have been done that with bilateral and
bowstring-based filtering can produce dual-threshold value is better than the canny
edge detection classics.
