Preliminary Plant Design of Bioethanol from palm sap through Fermentation Method
with Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Capacity 55,000 kiloliters/year which operates for 330
days a year. The main stage in the pre-plant design consists of 3 stages, namely the
preparatory stage which consists of screening and mixing processes, fermentation, and
the purification stage which consists of distillation and adsorption dehydration
processes. The amount of palm sap needed to reach production capacity is 72283.885
kg/hour. The specific task that was completed was the detailed engineering design of the
distillation tower. The distillation tower specifications designed are stainless steel
material SA-240 type 316, shell diameter 1.373 m, total height 18.686 m, design
pressure 34.530 psi, shell thickness 0.375 in, number of trays, 36 trays, gasket width of
0.112 in, minimum bolt area 5,502 in, 58,572 in flange diameter, and 2.5 in flange
thickness. The location for setting up a bioethanol manufacturing plant from palm sap is
planned to be built in Koto Gasip District, Siak Regency, Riau Province, with a total
factory area of 17,460.300 m2
. The water needed by the factory is supplied from the Siak
River as much as 3,900.592 kg/hour. The planned business entity is a Limited Liability
Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational form with a workforce of 200 people
needed.
The results of the economic analysis in the pre-design of the bioethanol plant are: Total
Investment Capital Rp. 353,239,596,867.93, production costs Rp. 701,313,499,792.53,
sales proceeds of Rp. 812,845,000,000.00, Profit Margin 13.04%, Break Even Point
49.59%, Pay Out Time 4 Years 9 Months, Return On Network 35.02%, and Internal Rate
Of Return 21.50%. Based on the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded
that a bioethanol processing plant using palm sap as raw material with a fermentation
process is feasible to establish
