dc.description.abstractMedan is one of the commuters' main destinations because the development is concentrated in this area. Commuters' decision in consuming influences economic behavior in the short term and in the long term. Their consumption contributes to the revenue of either the destination town or original place. The objective of the research was to find out some factors which influenced commuters to go back and forth to and from Medan and their consumption pattern in Medan and to find out how big the multiplier of the consumption effect of the original place of the commuters who worked in informal sector. The research used descriptive method, using primary data. The samples consisted of 100 respondents, using snowball . sampling technique. The. data were analyzed qualitatively by using regression test with Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method, based on the result of data processing, using an SPSS v. 19. 0 software program. The result of the research showed that supporting and drawing factors had equal power in the decision to commute. More income of the commuters in the nonformal sector was brought to the original place than that of being consumed Commuters' marginal propensity consumption (MPC) in non-formal sector in the original place was higher than that of the destination place.en_US
