dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research is to examine the MS social semiotic phenomenon. This research focuses on the ideology representative expression within the language (text), situation and culture of MS. The design of this research is dominant-less dominant design. A qualitative research applies content analyzing method which in the level of language is to analyze the content of grammatical transitivity text, situational value, culture and MS community ideology. The quantitative research deals with sampling and instrument questioner to get data from respondents as the source. The primary data is in a form of transitive clause unit which appears in a lyric, poem, mantra, folklore, speech, Friday sermon, and interview. The secondary data is information found from special respondent fishermen and farmers of MS. The analysis is based on the theory of Systematic Functional Linguistic framework, with analytic construction formulated by the researcher. The validity of the result of the data analysis is conducted using the triangulation technique means reading repeatedly, critiquing the process and producing the analysis continued by cross examining through supervision with the supervisors and the experts. The main instrument of this research is the researcher herself who formulated the concept and applies it in the research. The supporting instrument is questioner. This research discovered that MS ideology is influenced and characterized by Material Process, Relational Process. and Mental Process. MS Ideological characteristic of the three transitive processes is motivated by the reality of the social community of MS who take and apply the MS Trilogy as its ideology within its various events, situational activities and culture. In MS Trilogy the life and the way of living are oriented to or with doing, working, moving, activating, and reacting. Language with its grammatical transitivity as a symbolic representation observes the reality of social community of MS and established it through Material Process. The MS Trilogy through the dimension of the relationship between human being and god, nature and other human beings in many situational events and culture are connected through Indicative, Attributive and Possessive in which within itself create many Relational Processes. The presence of Mental Process as the third level is triggered ( caused) by the many involvement of sight participation function as a subject clause for human main by in the events, factual or imaginative activities which contain value and moral teaching especially or it is revealed in the lyric and folklore. Context of situation represents field which is related to MS trilogy (the dimension of the relationship between human being and god, nature and other human beings), social activities of MS are instituted, and content of text which is discussed within the continuum(+) specialization. Tenor shows that the MS society who take parts in the interaction within the two continuums formal and informal; the status of the interparticipants is parallel and unparallel situation; the relation between participants is in positive affection; and the frequency of contact within inter participants. Mode shows that interaction of MS society is well organized. The distance of inter-participants is in the continuum with the characteristic ( +) distance in time and place. The level of text or language with the activities performed is language as action and as reflection. The medium in context of situation is both spoken and written text. Cultural context represents social function, generic structure and linguistic feature or characteristic in MS text. The seven MS texts: lyric, pantun, mantra, folklore, speech, Friday sermon, and interview with MS fisherman and farmers became part of the culture and product of culture of MS. To achieve its social purpose or goal, MS texts have stages and special generic structure. The variety of MS genre is the product of MS culture which confirms the variety of generic structure but the structure of MS text always has a structure: opening, content, and conclusion, which is stated and ended with Assalamualaikum (peace be with you). Language, situation, and culture all together are an expressive ideology of MS which have values and social norms reflected in the Trilogy MP, MA, and MM.en_US
