Layang fish (Decapterus sp.) is one of the most common species caught at
PPS Belawan. The purpose of this study was to determine the value of Catch Per
Unit Effort (CPUE) and maximum sustainable yield (MSY) in 2017-2021 using
Purse Seine fishing gear at Belawan Ocean Fishing Port and to determine the
sustainability status of kite fish based on ecological, economic, technological,
social and institutional dimensions at Belawan Ocean Fishing Port. This research
was conducted from October to November 2022. The methods used were CPUE,
Chlorophyll Concentration, Sea Surface Temperature and Sustainability Status
using the Rapfish Application. The results showed that the highest CPUE value
was in 2020 at 2,30 tons/trip while the lowest CPUE value was in 2019 at 0,88
tons/trip, the maximum sustainable potential value was 11.906,99 tons/trip while
the optimum fishing effort value was 13.382,74 trips/year. The sustainability
status of swallowfish resources (Decapterus sp.) in the Belawan Ocean Fishing
Port, namely the ecological dimension of 48.15% is in the less sustainable
category while the economic dimension is 65,13%, technology is 67,52%, social
is 56,25% and institutional is 64,87% included in the fairly sustainable category.
