dc.description.abstract | The Nasopharyngeal Cancer Patients with stage III - IV will lead to painful
symptoms like the onset of signs of swelling caused by abnormal growth of tissue
in the nasopharynx. Nasopharyngeal cancer symptoms can interfere with daily
activities, fulfillment of daily necessities and needs of rest. It is very minimal to
‘perform the daily activities physically, psychologically, social domain and control
of the disease or treatment-related symptoms and treatment to the dependence of
nasopharyngeal cancer patients with stage III-IV. A married couple is assisting
during the patient needs help to meet the needs of patients became caregiver at
home, Head and neck cancer patients especially patients of nasopharyngeal
cancer, with stage ILIV which is mostly served by radiotherapy is the
outpatients. Those who are assisting during the patient needs for help to fulfill the
needs of patients are known as caregiver at home. The objective of the research is
0 explore deeply the meaning of nasopharyngeal cancer experienced by a married
couple as a caregiver at home. This research is a descriptive phenomenological
study. The data were gathered by conducting in-depth interview and field record
with 12 participants selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were
analyzed with the Colaizzi approach. The results of the analysis found three
themes that is, assisting patients in meeting basic needs, impact fo caregiver and
wisdom for caregiver. Caregiver also feels some physical complaints,
psychological, and social. Tn general, Caregiver felt neglected, lack of information
to care for his partner who had cancer of nasopharynx and utilization of Health
care facility resources. Based on the research results, it is suggested that the
married couple know more about the disease which is endured by nasopharyngeal
cancer patient in the form of health education. | en_US |
